Launceston added a huge feather to its cap after it was chosen to host the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards gala dinner. The award ceremony will be held in mid-February 2019 in the picturesque settings of the Cataract Gorge. The Awards are expected to attract award finalists, tourism leaders and industry stakeholders from across the country with around 800 tourism operators expected to attend and enjoy the hospitality that Launceston and the north offers.
This will be the largest tourism event ever held in Launceston — and only the second time the event has been held outside a capital city.
The Premier has announced the State Government will provide $200,000 to support the event.
