New Chair to lead Tasmania’s business event industry

Business Events Tasmania, the State’s peak marketing body for the business events industry, today announced that Mark Kelleher would take over leadership of the organisation when current Chair, Malcolm Wells steps down at the end of March after three and a half years.

Mr Wells said that Mark Kelleher was a respected industry leader, who would draw on his extensive experience in international business, investment and trade, tourism, and corporate governance and stakeholder management making him the ideal candidate to lead the Board of Directors through the next stage of Business Events Tasmania’s growth.

Mark Kelleher has held his current position of Deputy CEO/Secretary, Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-Operative Research Centre since October 2014, and before that was Secretary/CEO, Tasmanian Department of Economic Development, Tourism and the Arts for five years.

Business Events Tasmania’s CEO, Stuart Nettlefold, acknowledged Malcolm Wells’ service to the board and organisation.

“Malcolm brought a renewed strategic focus to Business Events Tasmania, including revised corporate governance processes and was successful in securing increased funding for the organisation,” Mr Nettlefold said.
